Me,my fiance',and our daughter will be moving to Dallas in March. Is Uptown family friendly? Daycare options?

We both love the city skyline and would like to see it from our home, but we have a 2 year old and are concerned about the uptown/downtown area being kid friendly. Any suggestions on other nearby towns with the skyline view and good daycares? Also, how is crime in that area? Thanks!!!!!
