I took my tapers out to clean them and blood and pus came out of the hole?

Yesterday i put in my 6g tapers, they went in with some pain, but that's normal. Right? i used olive oil as a lubricant. But today, when i took my tapers out, blood and pus came out! Does this mean i have an infection? or something worse? i down sized back up to an 8. Help!
