What do you do/feel when someone rudely insults you?

Well depending on how bad the insult is I usually try not to make much of it cause that is usually what they are trying to do. But I have been through a situation like that when I blew up in their face and yea i felt bad as well. I later apologized. You know that's all you can do because you can't reverse what you did because it is already done. But we are only human.
