Has the GOP lost the northeast and upper midwest for good?

actually, i think it would be simpler to list the states that are still red: idaho, oklahoma, alabama and ...hmm, last i heard there were only six of them......guess it would be safe to say the gop is, if not dead, at best in a deep coma.
